App Plantify — Plant Identifier

Support pro@luxurycode.org

Recognition you initiate

A photo is sent for identification only when you take or choose one. The camera is not watching in the background.

No selling of personal data

We do not sell personal data or share it for third-party marketing.

Not kept afterwards

Your photo lives on our servers exactly as long as the recognition takes, and not a minute longer.

Quick summary

This Policy explains what information is processed by Plantify — Plant Identifier, why it is processed, and what choices you have.

Overview

Plantify — Plant Identifier (the “Service”) is an iPhone application for recognising plants. You point the camera at a plant or pick an existing photo, and the app suggests which species it is, together with a confidence figure and alternative candidates when the match is uncertain.

For a recognised plant the app shows a care card — watering interval, light, temperature, humidity, repotting, soil and fertiliser — along with a description, origin, common problems, and answers to frequent questions. Plants can be saved to a personal garden, and the app can chat with you about plant care and send watering reminders.

A phone cannot hold a model that knows four hundred thousand species, so recognition happens on our servers. That is why a scan has to travel: the photo goes out, the answer comes back, and the app shows you what the model concluded. This Policy sets out when that happens and what becomes of the file afterwards.

Step A

You take a photo of a plant or select one from your library. Nothing is read before that choice.

Step B

The photo is sent over an encrypted connection to the model that performs the recognition.

Step C

The result comes back with a confidence figure and, where the match is uncertain, alternatives to choose from.

Step D

You may save the plant to your garden. The submitted photo is then removed from the servers.

What the app does not do: it does not read your photo library beyond the files you select, does not use the camera outside the scanning screen, does not upload photos you have not submitted for recognition, does not use your photos to train models, and does not attach your identity to anything sent for processing.

Information we process

3.1 Photos you submit for recognition

When you scan a plant, the photo goes to the recognition model along with your chosen settings and a short-lived ticket number. The ticket exists so the answer comes back to the phone that asked, and it is discarded with the request. The file itself is held only for the moments the recognition takes.

Where a photo happens to show a person, a home interior or anything else besides the plant, that content is not analysed, indexed or retained — it is simply part of the frame you sent. We do not require an account, and no name, email address or other identifier is attached to a photo.

3.2 Your garden and the plant assistant

Plants you save to your garden, and the history of recent scans, are stored on your device. Messages you send to the in-app plant assistant are transmitted to the model that produces the reply, along with the context needed to answer, and are not linked to your identity. Please do not include personal details in those messages, as they are not needed to answer a question about a plant.

3.3 Information you provide (support)

If you contact us, we may receive the information you choose to provide (such as your email address and the content of your message) to respond and provide customer support.

3.4 Technical information (diagnostics)

To maintain stability and improve performance, we may process limited technical information such as: app version, device model, iOS version, crash logs, and high-level usage events (for example, which screens are opened and whether a recognition request completed or failed).

This information is used for diagnostics, security, and performance analysis. It does not include the content of your photos.

3.5 Attribution and advertising identifiers

To understand which marketing channel an install came from, the Service works with AppsFlyer, which receives device and campaign signals in aggregated form.

On iOS, linking activity to the advertising identifier requires your permission. The system prompt appears before any such linking takes place, and declining it leaves every feature of the Service working exactly as before. You can change this decision at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Attribution signals are not connected to the photos you scan or the plants in your garden.

04

Permissions

The Service works with the permissions you grant to enable scanning, saving and reminders. You can modify or revoke permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

You can revoke permissions anytime: Settings → Plantify → adjust Camera / Photos / Notifications.

05

How we use information

We process information to:

We do not sell your personal data and do not share it for third-party marketing. Photos submitted for recognition are not used to train models and are not reviewed for any purpose other than completing your request.

06

Third-party services

The Service may use established third-party providers for limited purposes such as image recognition and the plant assistant, crash reporting, analytics, subscription management, and attribution measurement (including AppsFlyer, as described in section 3.5).

These providers are required to protect information and process it only for the purposes described in this Policy. Your photos reach one provider and one only: the model that performs the recognition. Everyone else in the list above works with counters, crash traces, and subscription state — never with what the camera saw.

Payments are processed by Apple In-App Purchase (where applicable). We do not receive full payment details such as your credit card number.

08

Retention & security

8.1 Data retention

Nothing you scan accumulates anywhere. The moment an answer leaves our servers, the photo that produced it is wiped. The plants in your garden and your scan history stay on the device and remain there until you remove them or delete the app.

Other information is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Diagnostic information is typically retained for a limited period unless longer retention is required for security or reliability.

8.2 Security

Transmission between the app and our processing infrastructure is encrypted, and access is restricted to what is needed to operate the Service. We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the Service. However, no security method is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

09

Your rights & choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your information, such as access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection.

To exercise applicable rights, contact us at pro@luxurycode.org. We may request verification before processing certain requests. In practice there is little on our side to hand over. You never created an account, and a scan is gone from the servers as soon as it has been answered. What remains is crash data and the state of your subscription, so that is what a request will usually turn out to be about.

10

Payments & refunds

If you purchase a subscription or in-app product, payment processing is handled by Apple (In-App Purchase). We do not store or collect your payment card details.

Refund decisions and processing are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's policies. We cannot issue refunds directly for App Store purchases.

If Apple requests additional information related to a refund inquiry (for example, whether the user actively used certain features), we may provide limited usage signals (for example, that a recognition request was made and completed) to assist Apple's review — without providing your photos.

11

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us at pro@luxurycode.org and we will remove it.

12

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will provide notice within the Service or by other means where required by law. The “Last updated” date indicates the latest version.
